About 35 men interested in boxing, both beginners and experienced men, started working out recently in the Boxing room on the third floor of the new Indoor Athletic Building. Because of the fact that no contests are scheduled for the University team until after Christmas, Coach Henry Lamar, University of Virginia graduate and winner of the national Amateur Athletic Union boxing championship in 1925 and 1926, has been working on fundamentals, with a good deal of organized calisthenics and drill, including rope skipping and shadow boxing.

The hour from 3 to 4 every day is given over to coaching the beginners, while the University candidates receive instruction from 4 to 5. There will be no regular Freshman team this year, but there are daily boxing classes for Freshmen interested in the sport at the Hemenway Gymnasium. Veterans from last year's team include Captain D. P. Ketcham '32, M. J. A. Adlis '32, W. P. Bailey '32, H. Gross '33, and J. J. Mellen '33. The most promising prospect from last year's Freshman team is P. W. A. Hines '34. Other candidates from last year's Freshman team are K. L. Riley '34, D. E. Peter '34, and A. B. Sullivan '34.

The first regular meet will probably be on February 16, but there will be informal meets during January.
