A. B. Lamb, Erving Professor of Chemistry and Director of the Chemical laboratories, has been elected president of the American Chemical Society for 1933, it was announced yesterday by the Society.
Professor Lamb, editor of "The Journal of the American Chemical Society" since 1917, has been a member of the Harvard Faculty since 1912. He received the degree of A.M. from Harvard in 1903, and his Ph.D. in the following year. He has also studied in the Universities of Leipzig and Heidelberg.
In 1918-1919 Professor Lamb was a lieutenant colonel in the research division of the Chemical Warfare Service, U. S. A., in charge of defense chemical research. He served on the United States Fixed Nitrogen Mission in 1919, and from 1919 to 1921 was director of the Fixed Nitrogen Research Laboratory in Washington.
