BINGHAM DENIES CHARGE OF HARVARD PLAYER BEING PAID

Denying yesterday that the University had concealed any violation of its policy in regard to permitting a Harvard athlete to compete in a contest in which he receives remuneration, W. J. Bingham '16 director of athletics, refuted a charge directed against Harvard by a Columbia University investigating committee.

A Columbia baseball player was mentioned as playing in a professional league with students from Harvard, Yale, and Princeton. "No student here is permitted to play baseball on any team when any member of that team receives pay for his play," Bingham said.
