GYMNASIUM TO BE OPEN UNTIL 7 O'CLOCK UNDER NEW RULING

Time Extension Aimed to Allow Later Period for Swimmers

Following closely upon the suggestion made in the CRIMSON last Wednesday, it has been decided to extend the closing hour of the Indoor Athletic Building to 7 o'clock. This action, according to N. W. Fradd, director of the building, has been taken chiefly to accommodate those men who are detained in laboratories or elsewhere during the early part of the afternoon and who have found that the pool closed too early to allow time for a late swim. The problem is made especially acute during the winter months when the pool is reserved for the teams between 3 and 4.30 o'clock.

Hereafter the pool will close at 6.30 o'clock and the building at 7 o'clock instead of at 5.45 and 6 o'clock respectively, as formerly. Both the pool and the rest of the building will open in the morning at 10 o'clock, the regular hour.

Apparatus similar to that developed in California for diving practice has been installed in the basement of the Indoor Athletic Building. Consisting of straps to hold the diver in the air and a sawdust pit for landing purposes, the apparatus permits the development of good form.
