An annual dinner and an initiation of eight new members of the Harvard Flying Club will be held this evening at the Harvard Club of Boston, chiefly for the purpose of accepting new, members. These have been inspecting the East Boston Airport twice a week since the competition began four weeks ago. They are: J. C. Cowdin Jr. '35, H. H. Foster '35, R. S. Hurlburt '34, W. F. Ladd Jr. '35, A. R. McIlvaine '35, F. L. Spreckels '35, and H. D. Schmidt '35.

Three of the new members, Hurlburt, Ladd, and Spreckels, are already licensed pilots; it is anticipated that the other four men will start taking lessons immediately in the club's Waco F, open bi-plane.

The organization received distinction last summer when it was awarded by the National Aeronautic Association a first prize of $500, as the winning collegiate flying club of the year 1930-31. The prize, awarded by the Loening Intercollegiate Flying Contest Committee was formally presented to the club officers at a banquet in Washington last July.

At the dinner tonight, it is expected that the third annual W. E. Booing Scholarships in the Booing School of Aeronautics will be announced.

These scholarships are awarded yearly for the best aeronautical essays.
