A letter thanking Harvard University for its offer on the use of the new Biological laboratory for housing of Rindge students has been sent by Mayor Russell to the President and Fellows of the University.

The letter reads:

Mr. President: It is with pleasure and gratification that I have to report that the Cambridge school committee voted yesterday to accept the generous and public spirited offer of the university to give the city the use of the north wing of the new biological laboratory for its Rindge students during the current school year.

I also take this opportunity to express again my appreciation of the good will which this and many other benefits freely given by the university are developing between the city government and Harvard.

In addition to the loan of this building and the many other material gifts of the city, in the form of street construction, etc., I am personally deeply indebted to many members of the Harvard faculty for an abundance of wise counsel. The late Mr. Burke gave me unstintingly of his time, energy, knowledge and ability in conference, advice and investigation, as have Mr. Parkhurst, Mr. Endicott, Prof. Hall, Prof. Killam of the department of architecture, and Dean Holmes and Prof. Dudley, of the graduate school of education.

The benefits to be derived from these contacts and relationship am convinced cannot be measured in terms of present value. They have resulted, I am sure, in a cordiality and understanding that is likely to endure for longer than the projects immediately involved.
