"Edison, in respect to hard work, was incorrigible," said A. E. Kennelly, professor of Electrical Engineering, who worked with Edison for seven years. "Inspiration is an other word for perspiration,' Edison would say, and proved it, by working day and night, occasionally taking some sleep on a workshop table. During the day, he was constantly jotting down inventions on a small yellow pad, and although most of them were dropped, there was at least one each day that was experimented with successfully.
"It was the same buoyant spirit of vigorous enthusiasm which enabled him to put up such a flight for life, that made him succeed, and gave him so many friends."
