Tentative plans of the administration reveal what will be perhaps one of the greatest steps of the University toward the advancement of culture. Altho no definite program has been arranged, the system of "vagabonding" holds many potential advantages. With the realization of the ideal, Hill undergraduates will be possessors of the means of being able to secure one of the most complete educations offered in the country.
The chronic complaint seems to be the inability of students to take some courses in which they have a paramount interest. The inevitable conflicting of classes must favor required subjects, at the expense of voluntary attendance at unlisted classes. In the same manner, electives are often too limited in scope and considerable trouble and red tape results from an endeavor to choose an elective under the jurisdiction of another college. In many cases, students graduate from college still harboring the desire to increase their knowledge of various topics which might have been irrelevant to their programs.
It seems that both the faculty and the students would cooperate enthusiastically to insure the move. Professor could hardly be expected to object to an audience formed of persons absorbed in all discussion. Moreover, students would fill an otherwise vacant hour by creating a symmetrical education, which is so essential to the business world. Syracuse Daily Orange.
