One hundred and four days to the opening of college, boys! More than three months, only a little less than a whole term, filled with what? Travel for many, hard work for many, nothing special for many more.
A lot of us are always making good resolutions about working on independent reading during the summer; the number who do it is considerably smaller. It is the sensible thing to do, when one stops to consider, especially if one is contemplating spending much time next year in athletics, activities, at the Garden, or on Park Avenue.
Perhaps more of these resolutions would bear fruit--can a resolution bear fruit?--if the resolver were encouraged by their departments to the extent of being supplied in June with a detailed prospectus of the next term's work. Even more would be fruitful if it once became the thing to do, as we understand it is at two English institutions about which we are told painfully often.
At any rate, the Princetonian has determined to clean up its reading pronto. Let's get the boys out of the trenches by Labor Day! Daily Princetonian.
