LYMAN COMFORTABLE AFTER OPERATION IN MID-ATLANTIC

Theodore Lyman '97, Hollis Professor of Mathematics and Natural Philosophy, Emeritus, who late Sunday was operated on for a ruptured appendix while crossing on the Aquitania to England, was reported last night as resting comfortably. Professor Lyman, who is the director of the Jefferson Physical Laboratory, was planning to spend a short vacation in England, returning on June 8.

The operation was performed successfully in spite of a choppy sea by H. W. Case, ship's physician, aided by Dr. Charles Phillips, an American surgeon.
