The Student Vagabond

The Vagabond has a pleasant surprise to unfold to his minions this morning, albeit with chagrin. The chagrin is due to the fact that he almost lost his reputation, and despite the inroads of ultra-modernism, he is still old-fashioned enough in matters of this kind to wish to retain that intangible quality. The manner is thus: for the better part of a year this columnist has had his eye on a certain date, which falls on this coming Saturday. He had planned to set it aside as Official Vagabond Day: insignia and epaulets were to be worn, and the occasion was to be formal. However, it seems that there were nefarious plans afoot to hoodwink him. Now you can't hoodwink a Vagabond: he doesn't care for that sort of thing. Such scoundrelly caballas he refuses to tolerate.

The crux of the matter is this: The Day of Days for Vagabonds was to have been the last lecture of Bliss Perry in Harvard College, which was scheduled by the authorities that be for Saturday morning at 9 o'clock in Sever 11 and the course was English 41. But some unscrupulous clique has decided to do away with this lecture, and do away with it in a secret and dank manner, so the place wouldn't be overrun with Vagabonds. But if a Vagabond wishes to overrun, he overruns, and that's that. The dastardly deed came to the ears of this Guardian of Vagabondia and today he exposes the whole thing. Bliss Perry will not lecture Saturday morning at 9 o'clock but he is to sing his Swan Song to Harvard this morning at 9 o'clock and tomorrow in English 55 at 10 o'clock. When Professor Perry says goodbye, the Vagabond will be there if he can find standing room.
