"Education for the dynamic life," is the keynote of the midwinter meeting of the National Education Association to be held at Atlantic City next week. Harvard's representation will include Dean H. W. Holmes '03, of the Graduate School of Education, Dr. R. D. Allen, Associate Professor J. M. Brewer, Dr. R. B. Buckingham, Dr. Jesse B. Davis, Assistant Professor L. L. Dudley, Dr. H. F. Latshaw, Assistant Professor E. A. Lincoln '13, Dr. T. C. McCracken, president of the Alumni Association of the Graduate School of Education, and Dr. F. G. Smith.
The Harvard Dinner will take place on Wednesday, February 26, the last night of the meeting. Dr. McCracken will preside, while Dean Holmes will speak particularly about the procedure for the Ed.D. at Harvard.
Activities, begin at Atlantic city with a meeting of Deans of Women at which Harvard will be represented by Mrs. Lyon, Adviser of Women at the Graduate School of Education. The National Vocational Guidance Association, for which the School of Education publishes the Vocational Guidance Magazine, will meet from February 20 to 22. Associate Professor Brewer and Dr. Allen will tell the members what they and Dr. Smith are doing at Harvard in vocational guidance.
Prominent Speaker
The National Education Association itself meets from February 23 to 27. It will consist of elections, discussions, and recreation. In keeping with the keynote the speakers will consider education as a practical training for important work in life after graduation. Ray Lyman Wilbur, Secretary of the Interior, will speak on "The Anticipation of Future Needs in Research." Congresswoman Ruth Bryan Owen will speak on "Modern Politics." Well known men from all over the country, including many Harvard graduates will address the meeting. The National High School Orchestra, led by Walter Damrosch and composed of the best high school players throughout the country, will play for the meeting.
