The Student Council seems to be showing signs of activity in dealing with problems which are continually coming up in connection with the House Plan. This apparent vigor, indeed surprising in view of the lethargic inertia which has been so characteristic of the Student Council in the past few years, may well be productive of substantial results, if the proposed investigations are carried out seriously and with a real desire to help solve the questions under fire.

At present three committees have been appointed by the council to carry out investigations and make recommendations. They include: (1) a committee on the entertainment of women guests in college rooms; (2) a committee on the eating problem among commuting students; and (3) a committee on admission to the House units, which will take up such matters as the advisability of admitting dropped Freshmen, the time of application, etc.

The first of the above-mentioned committees was inspired by a preliminary investigation of regulations regarding the entertainment of women guests in force at other colleges, undertaken by the CRIMSON, the results of which were published and commented upon in last Saturday's issue. There is a great deal more to be done on this problem before it can be finally sottied; and the Student Council seems to be the natural agent through which more can be learned and a more complete judgement formed.

The other two committees are the outcome of problems which every one knew would come up before the House Plan could finally take the place of the present College organization. Here again the Student Council, if it attacks the problem wisely, can add more than a little to the discussion.

If the committee which are undertaking these tasks do a good job and actually spend a little time and effort, the Student Council will appear in a more favorable light, and its existence be more amply justified than has been the case in the past.
