With a lecture to be given Thursday by Mr. N. M. Russel, second assistant registrar of the Massachusetts Probate Court, and one given at the same time by Miss Mary Hedges of the Probate Court, the series of 11 lectures held this fall for the Harvard Legal Aid bureau will be completed.
All on practical problems in Massachusetts court procedure, these talks have been given by experts from all branches of court work. The speakers have tried to explain to student members "the tricks of the trade" with which all lawyers must be familiar. This is the first time that law students have been given such a varied opportunity to learn about the inner workings of the legal systems in the commonwealth. It is expected that these lectures will be a great benefit to them in their work of bringing legal aid to those members of the community who cannot afford other lawyers.
Among these giving lectures before the members of the Harvard Legal Aid were: Dean Roscoe Pound and Professor J. M. Maguire of the Harvard Law School. Mr. Raynor M. Gardiner and Miss Ines DiPersio of the Boston Legal Aid. Justice Arthur P. Stone, Chief Clark William A. Forbes, and Probation Officer William F. Donovan from the Third District Court, Mr. Ned. M. Russell and Miss Hedges from the Probate Court, Patrolman John M. Ackerly and Deputy Sheriff Fred A. Beals of Middlesex County.
