FRADD DEVISES, CHALK AND BLACKBOARD NOW OF PAST

A new device to take the place of the timeworn chalk and blackboard or checkerboard for use in football skull practice has been developed by Mr. N. W. Fradd, Director of Hemenway Gymnasium and instructor in Physical Education.

The device consists of a diagram of a football field on a metal board, and employs magnetized disks to represent players. Arrows on the disks denote the direction the play is to take, and the ball carrier is represented by a special magnetized marker.

This device will enable coaches to demonstrate plays and formations quickly and clearly without the necessity of erasures after every diagram.

Mr. Fradd's contrivance which is as yet without a name, was demonstrated this summer by J. L. Knox, '98, Harvard's chief football scout, at the summer school for coaches.
