Contrary to all pre-game predictions the University polo team was swamped by the Yale malletmen, 10 to 3, at New Haven on Saturday.
Yale scored first when Rathborne, Eli back, drove in a goal through a tangle of players before the goal. T. E. Gerry '31 soon evened the count after a spectacular dash down the field, but before the end of the period Yale had added two more scores.
J. P. Cotton '29 scored once in the second and again in the fourth chukker, but except for these two moments the game was all Blue.
There is little doubt, but that this was a temporary slump, and it may be fairly safely predicted that by the time of the Intercollegiates in June the team will have regained its pristine form.
The summary follows: Score--Yale 10, Harvard 3. Goals--Porter 4, Rathborne 5, Folger, Cotton 2, Gerry. Referee--Lt. J. J. Burns. Time--six 7 1-2 minute chukkers.
