NEW CHAMBER ENSEMBLE GIVES FIRST CONCERT

NICOLAS SLONIMSKY WILL DIRECT SEVENTEEN MUSICIANS

This evening at 8.15 o'clock in Paine Hall of the Music Building, the Harvard Chamber Ensemble, Nicolas Slonimsky conducting, will present its first concert. The entertainment will be free, and open to the public.

The Ensemble owes its organization to Jacob Moskovitz '30, who is at present its manager. A very capable oboe player, he will render the part for that instrument in the "Fugal Concert" for Flute and Oboe, by Gustay Holst, the English composer who lectured at Harvard last Friday. The orchestra consists of 16 men in addition to Moskovitz, most of whom are members of the Pierian Sodality orchestra.

Four of the five numbers on the program are being played for the first time in America.

The program follows: Divertimento No. 11 in D. Major  Mozart Overture or Concerto No. 5 in D Major  St. Martini Fugal Concerto for Flute and Oboe with accompaniment for String Orchestra  Holst Music for the cinematographic film "Napoleon" Danse des Enfants  Honegger Gavotte from the Pantomime "Les Petits Riens"  Mozart
