The Crimson baseball forces will engage the University of Maine nine in the first home game of the season this afternoon at 4 o'clock on Soldiers Field. It will be the first game of the year for the Pine Tree State players, while the Crimson, fresh from its Southern trip, should be well prepared to meet the Northerners.

Coach Mitchell will probably start practically the same team which has acquitted itself so well in all the contests to date J. A. Prior '29 the team's leading batter so far, at first base, F. E. Nugent '29 at second, E. H. McGrath '31 at shortstop, and Captain E. G. Donaghy '29 at third will in all probability comprise the Harvard infield, while B. H. Bassett '31, B. H. Ticknor '31 and either T. W. Gilligan '31 or E. R. Todd '29 will tend the further reaches of the outfield. Whether R. R. Ketchum '29 or W. H. MacHale '31 will be on the mound for the Crimson is as yet a matter of doubt; both are ready for the assignment and the final selection will probably depend in large measure on weather conditions.

The Maine aggregation is for the most part a veteran nine, and Coach Brice expects his charges to make a good showing against the Crimson despite their comparative lack of practice. At least six of the visiting starting team have had intercollegiate experience in the past, and it will require excellent pitching to keep these sluggers in doubt is the hurling assignment and check.
