PHELPS IS NAMED WINNER OF FRANCIS BOOTT PRIZE

The Francis Boott Prize in musical composition has been awarded this year to Richard Lutz Phelps '29, of Arlington, for his anthem, "O Brightness of the Immortal Father's Fact," it was announced yesterday by Arthur Foote '74, chairman of the Committee for making the award.

The prize, which is $100, was established from the income of the bequest of Francis Boott, of the Class of 1931, and is annually presented to the writer of the best composition in concerted vocal music. The competition is open to undergraduates and to members of any graduate school of the University.

The composition must be written in four voices, soprano, alto, tenor, and bass, for chorus, with or without solo voices, and with organ or piano accompaniment. The time required for its performance must not exceed six minutes.
