FOILSMEN ENTER TRIALS OF EASTERN TOURNAMENT

Team Weakened by Absence of Umbsen and Hollister--Meet is Preliminary to N. Y. Intercollegiates

This afternoon in the B. A. A. gymnasium, the Harvard fencing team enters the trials in the New England Division of the Intercollegiate Fencing Contest. Other entries are Dartmouth, M. I. T., and Yale.

By virtue of their previous 10-7 victory over Harvard and their otherwise successful season, the Eli team is a decided favorite in this afternoon's clash. Harvard should in all probability place second, in spite of the fact that they will be without the services of Captain C. B. H. Hollister '29 and G. H. Umbsen '30, both of whom have been placed upon probation.

The meet this afternoon is preliminary to the Intercollegiates to be staged in New York on March 27, 28, and 29. The first two teams of the New England Division will qualify for this event.

Harvard will be represented by the following:

Foils: D. L. Modell '30, M. U. Copland '29, J. S. Oettinger '30 Alternate J. D. Allen '30.
