HARVARD NOT TO COMPETE IN INDOOR TENNIS TOURNAMENT

Harvard will not compete in the National Intercollegiate Indoor Tennis Tournament to be held at Cornell on March 2, it was announced recently. The Harvard team won the competition two years ago, but last year finished third to Princeton and Lehigh.

Due to a limited budget and to the fact that the Athletic Council wishes to cut down slightly on multiple intercollegiate competitions, the members of the tennis team were given a choice of going to Ithaca for the Indoor Tournament or of taking a southern trip during the Spring recess. In view of the fact that the latter plan will afford more men a chance to participate in matches, and will offer a welcome chance to get in trim for subsequent matches, the team has chosen to take the southern trip.

Four matches are scheduled for the team while it is away from Cambridge. These are with the University of Richmond, William and Mary, the Norfolk Country Club, and the University of Virginia, and all of them will be played in Norfolk.
