Final appropriations for charities have been approved by the Student Council, it was announced last night by John Cross '30, assistant treasurer of the Council.
The largest contribution, $1000, will be made to the Red Cross. $250 will be given to the Cambridge Council of the Boy Scouts of America, $250 to the Salvation Army, and a like amount to the Near East Relief. The Committee on Friendly Relations among Foreign Students will receive $500, as will the International Student Service for student work in Bulgaria.
Statements of unpaid pledges have been sent to all students in the University, and the Council urges their payment as soon as possible. In the event that contributions to the Council fund increase or fall short, the budget may be increased, or even cut, but it is hoped that students will respond with sufficient contributions so that a curtaliment may net be necessary.
