RENEWED SPIRIT IS SHOWN BY TEAM

Four New Faces to be Seen in Starting Eleven--Dartmouth Arrives in Town Late Tonight

With the threat of the Dartmouth game hovering over it Harvard's University squad swept through its shortest workout of the season on Soldiers Field yesterday. The team displayed more dash and spirit than it has shown all week in the workout which lasted only 50 minutes.

The practice was only light, demonstration of Dartmouth plays and a signal drill constituting the major part of the abbreviated afternoon's activities. Coach Horween also gave out numerous instructions in a talk which preceded the work in the enclosed field.

Ticknor at Field

The speed shown by the squad helps to dispel the gloom that has been hovering over Soldiers Field because of injuries and Coach Horween's dissatisfaction. The appearance of B. Ticknor in civilian clothes also helped to inspire the squad. The big center, still nursing a bad leg, appeared in better condition than he has all week, and the chances that he might be used as substitute center tomorrow improved greatly. If he is at all able to play it is fairly safe to say that Coach Horween will use him part of the time.

Harvard's starting lineup now seems practically determined. Four new faces will be seen among the eleven who will answer the call of the referee's opening whistle. Two of these men, Devens and Potter, are upon Team A as a result of a radical mid-week shift by Coach Horween, while Gildea is in there because of Ticknor's absence, and Douglas has regained the post of which he was deprived because of an injury. Whether or not Douglas will stay in the game long is problematical.

New Faces in Lineup

Harvard's revamped backfield will get its first test against the Green. This will probably be the only time this quartet will play as a starting backfield as Harper's return next week should again alter the backfield situation.

The squad will have only a light drill today perfecting its signals and individual assignments. The practice as usual will be on the stadium turf. Dartmouth will not practice in the stadium for the Green will not arrive until late.
