The University football team was the only athletic group not operated at a deficit, according to the report made public today of Charles Francis Adams '88, Treasurer of the University. The team earned $577,254.49, about $7,000 less than during the preceding year. The income from University baseball also declined, while the receipts from crew, track, and hockey showed an increase over 1927.

The total income on the Athletic Association exceeded expenses by more than $15,000, and over $700,000 was spent by the Association, excluding guarantees to visiting teams. Minor sports and the physical education department took some $100,000, and permanent improvements of grounds and buildings cost $80,000.

Baseball spent $32,837.88 and earned $25,869,98. Track spent $60,529.71, earning $13,245.91, while the expenses for the football team were almost $150,000. Receipts from varsity hockey came to $8,538.64, expenses being $15,016.75, and crew spent $45,026.15 with earnings of $1,902.88.
