CRIMSON PLAYGOER

"The Misses Bebe and Lillian Do Their Bit to Raise the Standard at the University Theatre

The two pictures now on view at the University Theatre are distinctly above average, especially for these parts. "The Wind" with Lillian Gish as the little girl buffeted by the breezes is a rather good film of the melodramatic sort. Die Gish shows that even if Dorothy has abandoned her for the stage, she can still do a good job on the screen. Her portrayal in this picture of the windy West is as good as any she has done in quite some time.

Bebe Daniels in "What a Night" supplies more laughs than are usually forth-coming in what the producers label "comedy". She and Neil Hamilton carry on as the girl and boy reporters who snag the big news story of the year. The prize incident is when The Boy spills a bottle of ink down his trouser leg. "It's only ink" says She, as she watches it trickle. Does one laugh in a case like that?
