Coach E. L. Farrell of the University track team characterized the field which will enter the sprinting events in the coming I. C. 4A. track classic as strong but not as fast as last year's.
"Of course there is Borah, the Southern California flash, who may rise to any heights if he is fit." Coach Farrell Yold a CRIMSON representative in the first of a series of discussions on the Intercollegiates. But the rest of the field, while it is far from slow, is hardly in Borah's class.
"Southern California has another fast man and Stanford also can boast of at least one sprinter who has broken ten seconds, but I look to the East to furnish Borah's opposition or at least to supply the other scores in the short events.
"To name a few of the East's stars I'll mention Scull of Pennsylvania. Bar tholomew and Bates of Penn State, Pappas of Princeton, Charles of Colgate. Harlow of Syracuse, Walker of Yale, Quinn and Daley of Cornell, and French of Harvard. Of course there are plenty more who may to as well or better than these, but these men look promising judging from past records.
"It's too bad that Ellis, Yale's great runner, has a bad knee which will keep him out of competition this spring, because he is one of the best. Another man who would do well if he were right is Wildermuth of Georgetown.
