ARMY DEFEATS NAVY IN FINAL SPRING SESSION

HARPER AND WISE TALLY AFTER LONG RUNS

At the final scrimmage of the spring football practice, held yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock on Soldiers Field, the Army team defeated the Navy, 13 to 0. Approximately 40 men played in the game.

During the first two periods of play, good defensive tactics were shown by both teams, but successful offensive plays were few. The first touchdown for the Army was scored when W. R. Harper '30 intercepted a forward pass from J. W. Potter '30 in the first period and raced 40 yards for a touchdown. The attempt of T. W. Gilligan '31 at goal after the touchdown was blocked.

In the third period, Potter completed a long pass to F. A. Pickard '29, but since a Navy end was off-side, the play was called back. A little latter in the same quarter, an Army touchdown was disallowed because of an illegal use of hands in the Army line, when Giligan intercepted another pass from Potter and ran 75 yards for a touchdown.

The second Army score was chalked up in the fourth quarter, when P. S. Wise '29 made a 65-yard end run for a touchdown. The final point was made on a pass from J. H. Morris '29 to W. W. Ryan '30.

The line-up of the first teams that played yesterday is as follows:
