Fresh from triumphs over Middlesex and Groton, the 1931 baseball aggregation will engage the strong St. John's team this afternoon at 4 o'clock on the Freshman diamond.
The schoolboy team is considered particularly strong this year because of an early season victory over Exeter, a feat which stamps it as a worthy opponent for Coach Davidson's charges.
Robert Gilmore '31, whose stalwart work on the mound has made him one of the outstanding players on the Freshman team, is scheduled to face the St. John batters when the game is called, W. H. McHale '31 and E. B. Samborski '31, who shared the pitching honors in last Saturday's victory over Groton, will be available for reserve duty on the mound.
The batting order will remain the same as that which faced Groton except that Samborski will cover left field and Gilmore will be in the box.
Although the wet weather has prevented the first year men from any regular practice this week. Coach Claude Davidson feels that the team is in good shape and should emerge on the long end of today's verdict.
The Freshman batting order follows: B. H. Bassett '31, c.f.; Pliny Jewell '31, 1b.; E. J. Des Roches '31, 2b.; E. A. McGrath '31, s.s.; Samborski, l.f.; R. S. Ogden '31, 3b.; S. L. Batchelder '31, e.; R. J. Leonard '31, r.f.; Gilmere, p.
