SPRING FOOTBALL TO START MONDAY

Third of Informal Gatherings Was Held at Varsity Club--To Hold Kicking Competition Again

The annual spring football practice will start on Monday at Soldiers Field at 2.30 o'clock, it was announced last night at the third of the informal series of football gatherings held last night in the Varsity Club.

Coach Arnold Horween '20 is coming East on Saturday and will be present on Monday with nine coaches to assist him. They will be: F. L. Casey '19, J.L. Knox '98, Madison Sayles '27, H. W. Clark '23, W. A. Cleary '15; C. S. Hubbard '24, J. L. Donovan Jr. '24, F. S. O'Brien '14, and V. P. Kennard '09. Last year over 80 men reported, with a large majority of these reporting nearly every day. Each year several outstanding players are uncovered.

During the last days of spring practice a kicking competition will be held with trophies awarded to the winners. The drop kicking medal was awarded last year to W. T. Wetmore '30, while ex-Captain, C. A. Pratt '28 won the punting competition.

The meeting was begun last night with some musical entertainment by F. R. G. Giddens '29 and R. M. Whittemore '31. Captain A. E. French '29 was the first speaker of the evening. "Eddie" O'Brien, noted football referee, gave a talk on football from an official's point of view. O'Brien has been officiating for over two decades.
