Preliminary trials for the annual triangular debates between Harvard, Yale, and Princeton will be held this evening in the New Lecture Hall at 7 o'clock, it was announced last night by E. M. Rowe '27, debating coach.
The question chosen for this year's debate is: "Resolved, That this house favors the governmental policies of Mussolini". Harvard will meet Princeton at Princeton, Princeton will journey to New Haven to contend with Yale, and the Blue will meet the Crimson in Cambridge. All of these debates will take place on the evening of March 24. Announcement will be made later as to whether the University affirmative or negative team will remain at home.
The men who debate against Yale and Princeton automatically become members of Delta Sigma Phi, the debating fraternity, and recipients of the Coolidge medal. The Coolidge prize of $100 is awarded to the man doing the best work in these debates.
The trials which will be held this afternoon will determine the membership of the squad which will eat together every day to discuss the question. All men in the College and Engineering School in good standing are eligible. Those intending to try out for the team should report this evening in the New Lecture Hall at 7 o'clock prepared to give a five minute speech on either side of the question.
