In a close, hard fought clash on the Hemenway court last night, the University basketball five won its sixth victory of the season, when it toppled a quintet from M. I. T. to the tune of 32 to 27. A complete change in the offensive line, by the substitution of two sub-guards for the two regular forwards, added to the power of the Crimson forces, Harvard taking the lead shortly after the initial whistle and holding it throughout the game.
With J. L. Combs ocC. and J. R. Harper '28 in the basket-tossing positions at the outset, despite the absence of A. W. Slocum '28 who was kept out of the game by injuries, the Crimson courtment led at the half, 16-14. J. N. Barbee '28 and S. C. Burns '30 did yeoman work for Harvard, and Allen starred for the losers, counting 12-points.
The summary follows: Score--Harvard, 32; M. I. T., 27. Goals from floor--Allen 5, Green 4, O'Connell 3, Lawson 3, Barbee 2, Combs, Harper, Wenner, Burns, Brockelman, Estes. Goals from foul--Wenner 2, Barbee 2, Allen 2, Lawson 2, O'Connell, Green, Estes, Brockleman, Reynders.
