The University soccer team was overwhelmed 5 to 2 by a powerful Springfield College eleven on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon.

Playing the best team which has been seen on Soldiers Field this year, the Crimson booters showed at least as good form as they have displayed this season, but they were unable to cope with the aggressive play of the Springfield forwards.

Harvard started off with a rush gaining a two point lead in the first period, but the tables were reversed in the second quarter, and led by the brilliant playing of Markward the Crimson's opponents ran up a total of five points showing completely their superiority before the final whistle blew.

The result of Tuesday's shakeup in the lineup did not work out as satisfactorily as had been hoped, having the effect of weakening the defense without materially strengthening the offense.
