The opening of the competition for membership in the Harvard Rifle Club was announced last night by M. M. Johnson, Jr. '31, president of the club. In May, 1929, six men will be chosen to represent the Rifle Club at the high power rifle matches at Camp Meade, as well as at the several intercollegiate meets.

The officers for the coming year are M. M. Johnson Jr. '31, president; R. D. Fielding '30, vice president; R. H. Dorr '29, secretary; T. W. Dunn '31, Treasurer; Nichols Unkovic '29 and W. M. Wing '31, range officers.

The Rifle Club members shoot the Springfield government service rifle at a stationary bullseye, in contrast to the Gun Club, which shoots moving clay pigeons.

Rifle practice is held at Arlington Rifle Club on a 200 yard range throughout the fall and spring. Of the 75 club members, all have an opportunity to qualify for regular army qualification insignia, using their own rifles or the club rifles.
