For the third year in succession the Metropolitan Squash Championship of New York was won by a Harvard graduate, when H. N. Rawlins '27, captain of last year's squash team, playing for the Harvard Club defeated Tevis Huhn of Princeton three straight matches Saturday at the University Club in New York. Two other Harvard men, G. D. Debevoise '26 and P. M. Lenhart '27 were in the semi-finals of the tournament.
The title was won in 1926 and 1927 by W. P. Palmer '25, who was also national champion in 1925 and 1926.
The decisive victory which Rawlins won over the princeton man who was the winner of the Metropolitan Squash, Championship in 1925, came as quite a surprise to the spectators of the matches. Huhn had come through to the final set with out losing a set, and in the semi finals he defeated Lenhart who was number 2 on the University's national championship team last year.
Coach Harry Cowles said in a statement to the CRIMSON last night that Lenhart was the best stylist that he had over coached, that his form and accuracy was all that could be expected of any player, and that if he should enter the national championship tournament, which is to be held in February at Philadelphia, he ought to be a likely contender for the championship.
