Fifteen men of national prominence will gather today in the new baseball cage to judge the 5000 exhibits of advertisements which were submitted by firms from all over the country in the Harvard Advertising Awards Contest. The judging will cover three days, and the winners of the awards will be announced approximately two weeks later. Ten prizes, donated by Edward Bok, amounting to $14,000, will be awarded to the contributors of the best advertisements.
The competition, which closed on December 30, was open to any individual or organization, and contributions were received throughout the year. There are four departments in the contest, each one calling for a different type of advertising.
Practically all the nation's leading industries submitted material in the contest. Included in the list of contributors were the Ford Motors Corporation, The Cunard Steamship lines, and several local financial firms. All of the advertisements were in some form of periodical advertising.
The exhibition will be open to the public on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
