TWO TILTS IN THREE DAYS WILL ENGAGE UNIVERSITY NINE

Grey Skies Force Cancellation-Cutts, Howard and Barbee Slated for Duty on Mound Over Weekend

The University nine will face Colgate this afternoon on Soldiers Field at 3 o'clock.

This year's Colgate team has proved successful against opponents in the Empire States, and should give the Crimson nine, seeking its twenty-third triumph of the season, a hard battle.

F. B. Cutts '28 or Willard Howard '28 is the probable pitching choice for the University. After his success as relief twirler against Yale last June, Cutts has had a fair year thus far, lack of consistency being the drawback to his further effectiveness. Howard, former Harvard shortstop, has changed to the pitching mound only this spring, and thus far has hurled the University to victory over the Williams batters, whom he held to two hits, and pitched in the 3 to 3 tie played a week ago with the Alumni nine. HARVARD  BROWN Burns c.f.  l.f. Scribner Chase l.f.  c.f. Edes Zarakov 3b.  1b. Parker Lord 1b.  r.f. Hefferman Chauncey c.  c. Gurney Ullman 2b.  p. or 3b. Billings Donaghy s.s.  2b. Randall Jones r.f.  s.s. Wright Barbee p.  3b. Chase or Schuster   p. Burgess or Rawlings

On Monday, Coach F. P. Mitchell will take his charges to Providence to engage the Brown nine. This will be the second time this year that the Crimson batsmen have invaded the diamond purlieus of the Brown Bear. On May 7 the game scheduled for Soldiers Field was transferred to Rhode Island because of the conflict with Edvin Wide's attempt to break the world's record for the two-mile fun. On that occasion the Crimson hit hard behind airtight pitching by J. N. Barbee '28, and pounded out a 6 to 1 triumph over the touted Bruin nine.
