SMYSER'S SECTION WINS TWO ENGLISH A DEBATES

English A Debates Close as Four Teams Argue on Censorship-Section 6 Overcomes 14 Twice

In the last two English A debates of the year, held last night in Harvard 5 and 6, the two teams from Mr. Symser's section won both of their debates upholding the affirmative and negative of the question. "Resolved: That Censorship of Literature and the Legitimate Stage be Abolished." In one the decision of the judges was unanimous and in the second a 2 to 1 decision was given.

In the first debate which began at 7:30 o'clock, J. I. Ware, K. K. Kettzle and S. E. Myers were the losing affirmative team from section 14 while C. N. Com stock. H. T. Wenner, and M. V. Anastos presented the negative side. Professor Bilss Perry. J. T. Murphy '30 and P. H. DeWllde '27 were the judges with P. M. Shelton '30 as chairman.

In the other debate which started a few minutes after the first one, the affirmative won by a 2-1 vote of the judges. For the affirmative A. M. Silverblatt. I. J. Galpeir, and A P. Butler with R. M. Glenn as honoravy alternate spoke with J. P. Davis, C. M. Thompson and C. S. French with C. T. Wheeler as alternate on the losing negative side in this debate C. P. Graham '8O, C. N. Carlson ' 8O and 1 8 Wright 21 were judges W. N. Middleton '30 presiding officer.
