APPLETON CHAPEL RITES WILL HONOUR PRESIDENT ELIOT

Lowell and Thwing Speak at Memorial Gathering--University Choir to Be Led by Davison

The Memorial Services to commemorate the life of the late Charles William Eliot, President Emeritus of Harvard University, will be held in Appleton Chapel tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. This date, which has been chosen for the first gathering of the undergraduate body to honor the memory of the great leader of the University, is also the ninety-third anniversary of his birth.

The Reverend F. G. Peabody '69, who offered the prayer in both the funeral services held for president Eliot last summer, will conduct the service tomorrow. President Lowell and C. F. Thwing '76, President Emeritus of Western Reserve University in Cleveland will address the assembly in Appleton Chapel. The University choir, led by Dr. A. T. Davison '06, will sing.

First United Service

Inasmuch as the death of President Eliot occurred on August 22 the funeral services which were held in Appleton Chapel three days later, came at a time when all the students of the University were absent from Cambridge. The Memorial Service tomorrow thus marks the first occasion on which all of the Harvard undergraduate body will have a chance to pay their respect to the great builder of the University
