John Barbee '28 of Chicago was elected captain of the University basketball team for 1928 at a meeting of the lettermen yesterday afternoon. Only eight players were eligible to vote, and of these eight, Barbee is the only one to return next year.

Besides the captain-elect, others who received their letters in the Crimson's 30 to 16 victory over Yale last Saturday are Captain J. S. Malick, J. D. Leekley, Kenneth Dorn, and W. V. Coombs, all of whom composed with Barbee the starting five, and J. A. Vogel, F. M. Eaton, and A. F. Ely, who got into the game in substitute roles.

For two years Barbee has been a regular guard on the University quintet, though in the past season he served the Crimson court team in two roles, as both guard and center. Besides being a star basketball player Barbee is one of the leading moundsmen on the University baseball squad, winning his letter last year as a regular pitcher for the nine. He is also president of the Junior class. He prepared for Harvard at the Carl Schurz High School in Chicago.

Quintet Closes Court Season

This year's basketball team will make its final bow of the season tonight in the Newton High School gymnasium in an exhibition game with Tufts. Of the fourteen contests the team has played, nine have resulted in victories for the Crimson. The percentage of wins is less than three-fourths of the total number of games, so the eight men will be awarded only the Harvard basketball insignia, instead of the minor sports "H" which they would have otherwise received.
