By a 2 to 1 score, Newton High School at the Arena yesterday succumbed to the Freshman sextet. The schoolboys, ranking among the top notchers in inter-scholastic hockey were clearly outplayed by the first year outfit.

Superior brands of teamwork, coupled with more speed and better lasting ability saw the 1930 men safely through. The margin of superiority was considerably more than the one goal advantage indicates.

The play was for the most part around the Newton cage; only some excellent work by Thompson the Orange and Black's goaltend saving his team from a heavier defeat.

The Freshmen scored first when Lakin, speedy right wing, netted the puck, midway in the second period. At the opening of the last stanza. Spain tallied for Newton. But a few moments after his tying shot, Captain Summers took the puck the length of the ice, circled the opposing cage and flicked the disk out to Lakin who, from a good position, accounted for the winning tally.

The work of summers and Lakin stood out in the 1930 attack, while Spain was responsible for most of the aggression on the part of the schoolboys.
