CERCLE FRANCAIS TO PRODUCE THREE PLAYS

M. ERNEST PERRIN TO COACH PRODUCTION

At the opening meeting of the Cercle Francais, held last night, the titles of the three one-act plays which the club will produce next month were announced. They will be the following: "Le Pater," a military drama by Francais Copet; "Hypnotisee", a farcical take-off on mysticism by Grenet-Dancourt; and "L'Intruse", by the Belgian artist-playwright Maurice Maeterlinck, a modern mystery-play which will be an innovation for the Cercle, which has hitherto presented nothing but old French classics.

J. D. Lodge--'25, former president of the club and now a second-year student in the Law School, opened the meeting with a talk in which he outlined the policy of the Cercle to the members and candidates who gathered to try out for parts in the plays. Lodge declared that the Cercle Francais is not primarily a dramatic organization, nor a limited gathering of students accomplished in the French lanuage, but is an association the purpose of which is to further French parlance in the University and good relations with French students and universities.

M. Ernest Perrin, coach of Cercle Francais productions for 25 years, who is again to direct the dramatic side of the organization, was the second speaker at the meeting. He gave out the names of the plays and announced that work would be started immediately in preparation for the production, which will probably be given at Jordan Hall about December 15.

The appointment of W. B. Cowen Jr. '29 as Production Manager was also announced. Candidates for other managerial positions under him may still report in the evening at the Cercle Francais Room, Grays Hall 9a, as may aspirants for roles in the plays.
