For the information of those who do not take to the air on Saturday for the trip to Philadelphia, but prefer to travel by road, the following motoring route over the famous Bear Mountain Bridge across the Hudson is published:
From Cambridge take Route Number 20 through Watertown, Waltham, Weston, Wayland, Northboro, Worcester, Leicester, Brookfield, Warren, Palmer and Springfield to a point just north of Southwick. Turn left here and go south through Granby and Simsbury to Farmington. Drive on Connecticut Highway Routh Number 3, from Farmington, through Southington, Milldate, Watelbury, Southbury and Newton into Danbury.
From Danbury motor west on Connecticut Highway Route Number 119, to Connecticut-New York State Line. From New York State Line follow route Number 37, designated as the "Bridge Route", through Mill Plain, Brewster, and Carmel to Lake Mahopae, where many excellent hotels offer the best accommodations to the tourist.
From Lake Mahopae continue on the "Bridge Route" Number 37, to Peekskill. Drive along Main Sereet in Peekskill to Division Street. Turn right into Division Street, and continue to the Solitaires Monument. Turn left here onto Highland Avenue, which is followed to the large direction sign at Annsville indicating the route to the Bear Mountain Bridge.
Another left turn is made here and the winding road along the shore of Annsville Creek is followed to the Bear Mountain Bridge Highway. The completion of this fine highway together with the Bear Mountain Bridge, makes the vast outdoor playground of Bear Mountain Park, and the west shore of the Hudson River, more easily accessible to motorists.
Tourists may come now across the Hudson River at any time of the day or night, winter or summer, in comfort and without delay, the bridge being normally open to traffic 24 hours each day of the year, winter or summer.
After leaving the bridge continue to the traffic circle. Here turn left and continue to the next two road intersections where a right turn is made in each case, and continue through Bear Mountain Park, over The Seven Lakes Drive, through Tuxedo, Sloatsburg, Ramapo, Suffern, Oakland, Pompton Lakes, Pompton Station, Pompton Plains, Pequannlock, Lincoln Park, Towaco, Boonton, Parrisippany, Littleton, Morris Plains, Morristown, Bernardsville, Far Hills, Bedminster, Somerville, Harlingen, Princeton, Lawrenceville, Trenton, Parkland, Oakford and Trappe into Philadelphia, the destination.
