Poughkeepsie, N.Y., November 18--Vassar tries hard to believe in Harvard's idea of itself as the Compendium of Snobbishness and we do think we do it better than Smith or Wellesley because we are geographically more favorably situated--but it is hard when we never fail to meet its delegates at the Intercollegiate Literary Magazine Conference. They are so lovely to the girls.
But the most important evidence of all is the fine custom of allowing in the clubs only girls who have been engaged for at least three years to at least one member.
On the surface, it certainly looks like a perfect case of High Snobbishness. However, a closer examination of the actual facts does not fail to prove that his idea is in reality nothing but a mirage. (Empty dream.) Unfortunately, our brothers go to Harvard. They use a flat "a", are perfectly acquainted with the letter "r", are common, lowdown, plain vulgar gentlemen. So are their friends, when observed intimately. So are their friends, when observed intimately. And their friends.
And their friends. And their friends. Which, when added, is found to comprise the whole of Harvard.
And so we lay away our cherished dream in Yardsley's lavendar.
