In a two mile time trial yesterday afternoon to determine the team which will be entered in the Intercollegiate cross-country races at Van Cortlandt Park, New York, on November 21, six men finished under ten minutes; led by Captain J. L. Reid, '29, who covered the two mile course in 9 minutes 36 seconds.

Coach Jaakko Mikkola said after the trial that the showing made had been the best in several years, if not the best ever made in corresponding trials, as it was much faster than the time recorded in the corresponding trial by W. L. Tibbetts Jr. '26, two years ago.

J. O. Wildes '29 was only a half second behind Reid, while Leslie Flaskman '29, R. G. Luttman '29, W. V. King '28 and G. B. Lee '30 all finished well under ten minutes.

The following men will run for the University, in the Intercollegiate: Captain Reid, Flaksman, King, Lee, Luttman, G. H. Mitchell '28, and Wildes. F. B. Hyde '30 will make the trip to New York as an alternate. Seven men will run.

In the handicap fall pole vault, held yesterday afternoon, F. B. Clark '28, who had been entered at scratch, cleared 12 feet and won the event. C. E. Dunlap '30 cleared a fraction under 11 feet, and with a one foot handicap, took second honors. R. R. Impink '28, with a nine-inch handicap, and F. V. Weeks '30, with a 15-inch handicap, both totalled 11 feet nine inches and tied for third.
