G.H. PERKINS TAKES TENNIS CROWN IN CLASS A TOURNEY

G.H. Perkins 2S.A. won the tennis singles championship of the University yesterday afternoon when he defeated B.H. Whitbeck '29 in straight sets on the Divinity Field courts, in the finals of the Class A tournament. The score was 6-4, 6-3, 6-4.

Perkins played No. 2 on the University tennis team in 1925, and Whitbeck, whose brother was University champion last year, won the interscholastic title while at Loomis Institute.

The Class B singles and the doubles tourneys are not yet finished. The number of entries in the University tournament was larger than in any previous contest. There were originally 432 players altogether in the various classes, of whom 128 entered the Class A singles, 122 the Class B singles, and 182 the doubles.

The final match of the Class B singles will probably be played off this afternoon, between V.O. Watts 4G. and A.H. Rice Jr. 1G., while the doubles matches have only reached the semi-final round.

In the Union tournament, which is also now under way, the third rounds are being played in both the singles and doubles.
