When the new tennis courts back of the Business School are opened next week, weather permitting, the University will have 103 courts in operation. For the courts on Jarvis, Holmes, Divinity, and Soldiers Fields the average daily attendance for the fall playing seasons is 438, while in the Spring 607 players, on the average, use the courts daily.

Over six miles of chalk lines are laid down on the courts every day the courts are used. Last year 33 barrels of whiting were required for the upkeep of the courts. During July, August, September and October last year there were 26 days each month when playing was possible. In November, there were 21 playing days. April permitted use of the courts on 20 days, and May and June were fair 27 and 26 days respectively.

The new courts opposite the Stadium and just south of the Business School are intended for the whole University. They are not only for Business School students. Of the 20 courts, 16 are singles and four for doubles.

The courts are in two rows of to each, with a high wire fence between the rows and completely surrounding the block of courts.

According to Howard Parker '07 Manager of the H. A. A., the courts WI be ready late next week if frost and rat do not delay the final surfacing.
