Harvard's fast-moving basketball team last night added another victim to its list when the Cambridge players defeated the Worcester Polytechnic Institute by a 37 to 20 score on the Hemenway Gymnasium floor. The Crimson held the whiphand throughout, leading at hair-time, 19 to 9, and continuing through the second period at about the same clip.
J. D. Leekley '27, the rangy left forward on the Harvard team, monopolized most of the Harvard scoring, and was high man for the evening. Altogether, he shot the ball through the basket six times from the floor and once from the foul line. Graham, Worcester center, was next in line for scoring honors, with five counters from the floor.
The game was unusally fast, both teams preferring to pass the attack at the expense of their defensive tactics.
The summary follows: Score--Harvard 37, W.P.I. 20. Goals from floor--Leekley 6, Barbee 4, Dorn 4, Malick 2, Lane 2, Graham 5, Harris 2, Ranha. Goals on fouls--Leekley, Ranha, Gross 3, Referee--J.H. Crowley. Time--Two 20 minute periods.
