"The Quaternary Ice Age" is the general subject of a series of six illustrated Shaler Memorial Lectures to be given by Dr. Ernst Antevs, Docent of the University of Stockholm. The first lecture, "Criteria and Causes of Glacination," will be given this afternoon at 4.30 o'clock in the Mineralogical Lecture Room in the University Museum.
Dr. Antevs, under a grant from the Shaler Memorial Fund for Research in Geology, has been investigating the glacial deposits of eastern North America. Previous to this Dr. Antevs made extensive research connected with the glacial deposits of Europe. Many of the results of these studies will be incorporated in his lectures.
The dates and titles of the other five lectures are:
March 5--Number and Nature of Quaternary Glacinations.
March 10--Waning of the Ice Sheets.
March 12--Life of the Quaternary Period.
March 17--Climates of the Quaternary Time.
March 19--Changes of Level of Sea and land accompanying the Glacinations.
The lectures are open to the public and will be given on successive Wednesday and Friday afternoons at 4.30 o'clock in the Mineralogical Lecture Room in the University Museum.
