The undefeated Yale Freshman Fencing team defeated the 1929 foilsmen last night in the Hemenway Gymnasium by a 6 to 3 score. D. F. Edgar, a Crimson substitute, starred for Harvard by winning both of his two bouts. Captain Hyde and Holliday were the outstanding performers for the Eli first year men. Most of the bouts were fast and the men on both teams showed an advanced knowledge of the fencing art. The meet was closer than the score would indicate since several of the Yale victories were by 5 to 4 scores. This marks the close of a rather unsuccessful season for the University Freshmen, since they have lost several of their former bouts, due partly to the illness of some of the best men on the team. The individual scores of the meet follow: Captain Hyde (Y) defeated H. A. Hollister (H), 5 to 1; Hyde (Y) defeated Captain G. H. Umbsen (H), 5 to 3; Babcock (Y) defeated Hollister (H), 5 to 4; Righeimer defeated H. A. Hollister (H), 5 to 4: Holiday (Y) defeated G. H. Umbsen (H), 5 to 4; Holiday Y) defeated S. S. Galland H), 5 to 4; G. H. Umbsen defeated Babcock Y), 5 to 1; D. F. Edgar H) defeated Hyde (Y), 5 to 4; D. F. Edgar (H) defeated Ward (Y), 5 to 2.
