THE STUDENT VAGABOND

There are a lot of good courses which are just no good at all for an eccentric vagabond because they themselves are long wanderings through deserts of text. There comes an oasis, though, in every desert, a context in every text, witness Italian 2. Ariosto is about to be encountered by Professor Weston and this morning's lecture in Sever 5 will deal with him as an epic writer and not as an introduction to the Italian language. And besides, Sever 5 is on the first floor.

Major Craig is vagabonding to History 32b at 11 o'clock this morning, and I shall wander to the New Lecture Hall to hear him, thinking of what a boost Mt. Auburn Street humor will have some fifty years from now unless the name of that edifice is changed. Major Craig is to lecture on the military tactics and strategy of the Civil War.

Thomas Heywood, father of the English drama, is Professor Murray's subject in English 14 at noon in Harvard 3. Or in Emerson D, for 12 o'clock is an indecisive hour about which I can never decide, there will be given an estimate of democracy by Professor Hocking. I hope he disapproves of it.

The managing editor has asked me t' say uh word about a very gud frend of his entitled Otto who is t' appear at th' Union at 7.30 o'clock tunite. I don't need no dictum frum him, sence Otto is uh old frend of mine.
